Welcome to Katie's Kids Kitchen, where imagination comes to life and every child embarks on a delicious adventure! One of my favorite quotes comes from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory: "Come with me and you'll be in a world of pure imagination." I love having this stenciled on the wall in Katie's Kitchen to remind us all that imagination is the most incredible gift we can give to our children. It plays a vital role in their development, helping them learn, explore, and create.
Let me introduce you to Rosie Mouse, our beloved kitchen mascot! Rosie was a gift from a dear friend and quickly became a cherished companion for the children who visit. They hug her tightly, and I can see why! It reminds me of my own childhood, where I believed my teddy bears could talk and play with me, just like in my favorite show, Bagpuss. For those magical 15 minutes, I was completely captivated by the adventures of a saggy old cloth cat and his friends.
Here at Katies Kids Kitchen we offer birthday parties for children in Shrewsbury, but we have also recently being doing a lot of events fro the wonderful people living in care homes in Shropshire.
I'd love to tell you more about what we offer, please take a look.
At Katie's Kids Kitchen, I wanted our little visitors to feel the same wonder I experienced as a child. The story of Rosie developed effortlessly with the help of some delightful props. For instance, a gorgeous lighthouse from a little girl named Eleni and a tiny ceramic door given by her granny became a home for Rosie. Eleni was so concerned about where Rosie would sleep after our cooking classes, and that sparked a wonderful story!
Rosie resides in her lighthouse, and with a wave of her magic door, she transforms into a tiny mouse! She scurries into her kitchen to make a cheese sandwich and pour herself a flask of tea. With her trusty looking glass, she spots a friendly boat approaching, and off she goes on a special adventure!
Throughout her journey, Rosie meets a variety of charming characters. I use simple and repetitive language, making sure to incorporate words that children understand and recognize. Each time Rosie returns to Katie's Kitchen with her new friends, she asks, "Are the children kind? Do they share?" The little ones proudly show Rosie their kind hands, inviting her to join in the fun as they play together.
The characters that Rosie encounters are a treasured collection from my own children, each over 20 years old! The simplicity of her story, paired with the comfort of familiar themes like kindness and sharing, has created a magical experience for children under six for the past 14 years. Rosie has touched the hearts of hundreds of children, gifting them the boundless joy of imagination.
At Katie's Kids Kitchen, every cooking party is more than just a lesson. It’s an invitation for children to explore their creativity, build friendships, and, of course, enjoy delicious food! Thank you for joining us on this journey; we can’t wait to welcome your little chefs for their own magical adventures!
